There were two things I knew I wanted to do when I was deciding what career path I was going to take, going to culinary school or becoming a doctor. Nine years ago, I packed up my car and decided to make a move and ended up in Arizona.
I studied at Arizona State University and chose to marry medical and culinary education by becoming a registered dietitian. I felt those two paths would be the best choice for me, as I have always loved food and helping others choose the right things to put in their body.
I believe that it’s important to focus on what our patients can accomplish, one goal at a time. Being compassionate also goes a long way because we don’t know what people are going through. It’s also important to be realistic and know that we can’t change everything at once. That’s why I like giving people small steps they can take to reach those bigger goals.
Prior to working at Mountain Park, I interned here for a week and the person I was shadowing spoke so highly of the organization that I wanted to be a part of it. Now that I’m here, I’ve found that everything that was said is totally true. People at Mountain Park value one another and the diversity that surrounds our clinics.
